Well-being Prefects 2020

Message from the Well-being Prefects

Kia Ora School,

Well-being is the experience of health, happiness, and prosperity. It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and ability to manage stress. As Well-being Prefects, we are responsible for helping enhance students Well-being by offering a range of events and resources for their benefit. We currently have a Well-being Website which is regularly updated weekly for students and staff use, so feel free to check it out. If you have any questions or any suggestions in regards to any matters within our portfolio, be sure to contact either one of us.

Lifting the Lid

On Friday the 13th of March during lunchtime an event called Lifting the Lid took place. Schools within our Horowhenua and Kapiti region took part in Lifting the Lid which was implemented by our local Rotary clubs. The purpose of this event was to shine a light on the issues of suicide and mental health and to remind students to not be afraid to tap out and ask for help. Students at NUA were encouraged to write a kind or reassuring message on a sticky note and in return, they received a free sausage served by our Well-being Committee. The event was full of positivity, kindness and fun. We would like to say a massive thank you to the Rotary Club for kindly donating $300 and initiating this event. We would also like to thank our amazing Well-being committee for helping prepare and run this event. Remember it doesn’t cost a thing to be kind to others, so always be encouraged to spread kindness.

NUA Well-being Website

We created a NUA Well-being website, alongside Mrs. Nicholas who was of great help. This site is created for the use of our School community in order to keep them occupied through these tough and unprecedented times. A range of activities, challenges, apps and resources are provided on the Well-being Website and all ideas are contributed by our hard-working Well-being Committee. The ideas are centred around the four important aspects of Hauora: Physical, Social, Mental/Emotional and Spiritual. We are sure that you will enjoy the site, just click on the link below.
