Sports Prefects 2020
Message from the Sports Prefects
Kia ora School,
As Sports Prefects, we are responsible for the sport that happens within our school and between our school and others. These include:
Inter-house sporting events
Interschool sporting exchanges
The Annuals
Sadly, COVID-19 has limited our scope for most things involving sport, so our current goal is to have as much sport go on in these very interesting and unpredictable times.
Trig Walk
At the start of the year, to welcome and help the year 9's bond with teachers and students we challenged them to walk up and back down Trig.
Here are some photos of the effort that the student leaders and year 9's showcased!
Tabloid Sports
On February 5th, we hosted the annual Tabloid Sports for our new year 9's. This was an opportunity for the year 9 cohesion to bond with each other and get to know each other. This was a successful event, with Ngaio winning it.

NUAFIT
Here we will have regular updates on when NUAFIT is going to start back up again!
NUAFIT IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Length of New Zealand Challenge
The challenge has begun!!! Collectively, as students and staff, we want to travel the length of New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff; a distance of around 2100km (according to Google Maps.)
When you went out for your daily run, walk or bike ride, we encouraged you to record the distance you travel, and log it in the below spreadsheet.
We did manage to travel from Cape Reinga to Bluff! We, as a school community, did the hard yards and travelled 2161km at the time of writing! We encouraged everyone who has participated to instead focus on readjusting back to school routine over the coming weeks.
We couldn't be happier with the amount of support our challenge received, and we are grateful to all of our participants; some of whom will also be receiving prizes for their efforts very soon.
Tug o' War
All four houses participated in the annual Tug o' War event. This was action-packed fun with Mr. Stachurski giving commentary to the fun battles between the houses. Ngaio won the House Tug o' War competition.
Have a look at some photo's that Mr. White took!
Inter-house Dodgeball
We also hosted our first inter-house sport event, this was started off with Junior Dodgeball with Senior Dodgeball the following week. For the Junior's, Rata won. For the Senior's, Kowhai won. We then concluded the frenzy of Dodgeball with three games of Dodgeball between Teachers and the Year 13's. The year 13's won the first game, but with heroics from James Gilroy and Nick Stachurski the teachers won the next two games giving them bragging rights!!!
